Welcome to the ASM Auto Recycling blog as we seek to provide you with the latest in auto recycling news and industry advice. As one of the UK’s most modern and professional vehicle salvage agents and parts recyclers we are well placed to provide you with money-saving ways to salvage your car and to take advantage of new and innovative car scrappage schemes in 2011.
The ASM blog aims to simplify the topics of vehicle dismantling, scrap metal processing, online salvage auctions and vehicle storage with a collection of guides that improve your overall knowledge of the vehicle recycling industry.
According to the Motor Vehicle Dismantlers’ Association, every year approximately two million new vehicles are registered and a similar number are scrapped due to old age or being written off in a car accident. At the end of their useful life vehicles can be effectively dismantled and used as a source for spare parts.
But why do we bother with end-of-life vehicles? Well, the quantity of used vehicles that end up on the scrapheap equates to over two million tonnes of material to be recovered or disposed of. At present around 1.85 million vehicles are recycled every year in the UK with approximately 80 per cent of waste automotive materials recycled and reused – thus reducing the environmental impact of automotive landfill material.
Over the coming weeks we will provide you with ways to save money with a salvage car, industry news on the growth of the UK car sales market, the increased value of used car prices and more.
