New car owners warned to take care of September 61 plates
Friday, 23 September 2011
Vehicle recovery experts are warning excited new car buyers set to take delivery of a vehicle bearing the new September 61 plate to take extra care of their new set of wheels.
TRACKER, the UK’s market leader in vehicle tracking systems, is urging new owners of September 61 vehicles to fully protect their vehicle as more than 50 per cent of last year’s stolen vehicles were never retrieved and returned to their owners.
Stuart Chapman, police relationship manager for TRACKER, said: “If you have bought a new car this September and this time next year it is stolen, you may end out of pocket as well as without your car.
“In a worst case scenario you could end up only getting 60-70 per cent of the car’s value and if you’ve just spent £30,000 on it, you could find yourself out of pocket by £12,000. If your insurer does pay you the full ticket value, who’s to say the make and model you had is now available?”
There are a number of ways new car owners can protect their vehicle. Mr Chapman advises motorists to keep their car keys out of sight and to consider installing a tracking device that can determine a vehicle’s whereabouts even if it is stored in a lock-up or underground car park.
It is important to have all the latest technologies available to ensure the safe and environmentally-friendly recovery of any stolen-recovered vehicles. ASM Auto Recycling offers a reliable vehicle transport service for the collection of all scrap cars whether it’s damage-repairable or simply fit for recycled used car parts.
